Artificial and Natural Flavorings
If the ingredient statement says Natural Flavors, then the
flavor is derived from real crabs, lobsters or scallops. When the ingredient
statement says Artificial Flavor, then the flavors are not derived from
real shellfish. We take precautions to assure that our product
is safe for our consumers with shellfish allergies. Product with
artificial flavor is made before any product with natural flavor is
produced. Even though, all of our products are made on the same
equipment, the equipment is thoroughly cleaned after products
with natural flavors are made.
Allergenic Ingredients/Gluten
We wanted you to know that we do label allergenic ingredients,
such as shellfish, wheat, milk and eggs for our consumers. Allergenic
ingredients will be listed in the ingredient statement in their
common or usual terms. If
the Modified Food Starch in the product is wheat based, it
will be listed on the ingredient statement as a wheat-based ingredient. It
is important to always read the ingredient statement because
product formulas do change occasionally.
Sell by date information
The sell by date shows how long the product will be of optimal
quality. We recommend you use
the product within one week of the sell by date or two to four
days after opening the package, which ever comes first. If you
keep Louis Kemp Seafood covered and refrigerated after opening, the
product
will stay fresh and delicious for up to four days.
Preparation
Our products are fully cooked and should not be prepared in the
same manner as you would prepare raw crab, lobster, or scallops.
Storage
The product was developed to be sold in the refrigerated case,
unfrozen. We believe this product will be far superior in texture
and flavor if not frozen. However, this product may be frozen
up to 90 days. Special precautions must be taken because freezing
will cause the package to become very brittle. If you choose
to freeze the item before the sell by date, the package should be
over wrapped in material suitable for freezing, such as freezer paper
or foil.
Handling information
Thaw the product approximately 12 hours in the refrigerator and
use within four days of defrosting.
Freezing and thawing this product may cause changes in the texture
and may form some liquid in the package after thawing.
If you have accidentally left the product at room temperature
for a long period of time (more than 4 hours) do not use the product
and discard it. For heating instructions see the package labels.
