Cooking Methods

Surimi seafood is fully cooked and ready to eat right from the package, making it convenient and ready to use in any recipe. It can be served cold or warm depending on the recipe and your preference. To serve warm, heat through using one of the following methods:

Stovetop:
Place unopened package in a large saucepan of boiling water. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes, turning package over halfway through heating. Remove package from water. Cut film to open.

Microwave:
Remove surimi seafood from package and place pieces in a circle around the outer edge of a microwave-safe plate. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave on HIGH for 1-1/2 to 2 minutes, or until heated through. Time will vary depending on your microwave's power and efficiency.

Storage and Handling

Surimi seafood should be stored in the refrigerator at a temperature between 32°F and 38°F. If you accidentally leave the product out at room temperature for more than 2 hours, it should be discarded.

The quality of our surimi seafood is far superior if stored in the refrigerator. It can also be frozen; however, freezing may affect its quality. Once frozen, the “use-by” date on the package becomes invalid, and product should be used within 6 months. Thaw frozen surimi seafood overnight in the refrigerator or under cold running water. Once thawed, the product should be consumed within 3 days. Refreezing of thawed product is not recommended.

Use-by Date

For best quality, consume surimi seafood before the "use-by" date printed on the package. Any product that is 7 days past the use-by date should be discarded. The use-by date is valid as long as the package is unopened. Once opened, the product should be consumed within 3 days.

Allergen Labeling

Your health and safety are of utmost importance to us, and we recognize the potential severe consequences some consumers may encounter due to undeclared allergens in food products. We fully comply with current federal laws governing the labeling of food allergens, so you can rest assured that our product labels clearly communicate the presence of the following major food allergens: crustacean shellfish (crab, crayfish, lobster, and shrimp), eggs, fish, milk, peanuts, soy, tree nuts, and wheat. When these allergens are present in our products, you will find either a parenthetical listing of the allergen immediately following the ingredient common name, or a ‘contains’ statement listing the allergen immediately following the ingredient statement.

To provide an additional level of protection for our consumers, we follow documented procedures to prevent cross-contamination of food products with allergens that are not listed on our ingredient statements.
